In one of the displacement camps in the Arakan region, there is an urgent need to construct around 40 shelters. Currently, the Amyo Myat Thargi Nwe Philanthropic Association has contributed 7 million kyats to help build homes for displaced people.
Estimated costs of construction materials:
- 100 coconut leaves: 33,000 – 35,000 kyats
- One bamboo pole: 10,000 kyats
- 100 bamboo poles: 15,000 kyats (approx.)
A large number of posts, bamboo, and roofing materials are still needed. Families and individuals are encouraged to contribute and donate as much as they can.
At present, it is the summer season, so people can temporarily stay under trees. However, the rainy season will arrive soon, and since many are currently sleeping on the ground, it is essential to build proper shelters as soon as possible.
In addition, many displaced people in the camp are also facing food shortages.
